Something
Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue
This
must be one of the most popular wedding superstitions and requires the
bride to wear something associated with the four catagories. This
is to bring luck to the bride and her new married life. This tradition
has been known to have been followed as far back as the 1300's.

It
is bad luck for the bride to turn back once she has started her journey
to the ceremony. If something has been forgotten, send a
bridesmaid, that's what they're for!
It
is bad luck for the bride to see herself in the mirror once fully
dressed. Look at yourself before you have put your shoes on, or if
you have to look at yourself complete, add another bobby pin to your
hair afterwards.
It
is good luck for the bride to travel over water on her way to the
wedding.
It
is goodluck for the bride to see a baby lamb on the morning of the
wedding.
Sisters
should never marry on the same day, or even during the same year, lest
this action condemn them both to unhappy marriages.
A woman
must not be married in the same church she was christened in.
Brides
must not read the whole of the wedding ceremony before getting hitched,
lest the wedding not come about.
If
There are cats in the house, it is good luck for the bride to feed them
with her own hand on the morning of the wedding. Speaking of cats, the
sneeze from one on the wedding day is said to foretell a happy marriage.
Bridal
tears during the ceremony are considered lucky, but tears at any other
moment during the wedding day are said to foreshadow a marriage full of
them.
If the
solemnity of the service is momentarily interrupted by the sound of a
crying child, this should be taken as a happy sign.
